Greetings!
 
The Fall season has begun in the beautiful Coachella Valley and with it many exciting activities. In addition to a sold out Center Stage 2021, we are ecstatic to welcome our community home for The Center’s Grand Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in Palm Springs on Sunday, October 24. We will be joined by Mayor Christy Holstege, Pro Tem Mayor Lisa Middleton and KESQ’s Peter Daut to unveil our newly remodeled building including an expanded Scott Hines Behavioral Health Clinic. And we’re not stopping there! The Center will celebrate the Fifth Annual East Coachella Valley Pride on Saturday, October 16, and we have a beautiful, new venue for this month's Center Social on October 27. Below you will find additional information on these events, and more – we hope you find something here for you!

Meet at the Veteran's Memorial Park. At 1pm we will decorate our vehicles for the route around Coachella! First and second place prizes for best decor!
 
Driving the route will take approx 40 minutes, after which everyone is invited to reconvene at the park and enjoy time and music together! Masks and social distancing required!!!

El recorrido tomará aproximadamente 40 minutos. This 12 week, closed session group is for those who have lost a loved one and want assistance in dealing with their loss and to talk with others who understand what they are going through.

THE CENTER'S RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY
 
JOIN IN THE FUN
 
YOU ARE INVITED to join us on Sunday, October 24, 2021 @ 11:00 AM for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert. As we near completion of a multi-million dollar remodeling that has dramatically reshaped the McDonald-Wright building at 1301 N. Palm Canyon Drive, we are ecstatic to welcome the LGBTQ community back to this special place!
 
Leading the ceremony will be Center executive director and CEO Rob Wheeler and Peter Daut, a multi-Emmy award-winning journalist and weekday anchor at KESQ-TV. Distinguished guests and speakers will include Palm Springs Mayor Christy Holstege and Mayor Pro Tem Lisa Middleton.
 
A special thanks to our friends at Cafe la Jefa, Biscuit & Counter, and Native Foods for providing refreshments, and Coachella Valley based duo Las Tias for the entertainment! Stay tuned for more!

The Palm Springs Pride 5K Run & Walk will be in-person AND virtually this year!
 
Presented by the Palm Springs Front Runners & Walkers, the Pride Run is a 3.1 mile run & walk in the Old Las Palmas neighborhood and will be held on Saturday, November 6. Proceeds benefit The Center and The Transgender Health & Wellness Center. Register early and save!

Mark your calendars and register to play in some fun team oriented games to raise money for charity! On Sunday, Nov 14 at The Saguaro Palm Springs, Jay Allen will be hosting a party and team competition to support charities that are meaningful to him. For a donation of $1,500, teams of five to eight people can compete in various humorous competitions such as a water balloon toss and a dress-up relay.
 
All of the money raised during the event will be donated to four charities chosen by Jay. Your donations go to a great cause and are tax deductible!
 
Be prepared for a lot of fun and a variety of competitive games!
