A 5-week playwriting workshop that is geared towards supporting women in their process of writing for the stage. Only 20% of all plays produced in the U.S. are written by women. It is imperative to present women’s voices and stories in our community and to see shows that are written from a female perspective.
It is the goal of this workshop to teach writing instruction, as well as providing a supportive and creative environment that allows the participants to develop a community support system and enrich their writing abilities. Participants will be guided through weekly instruction of playwriting.
Weekly topics will include:
-Contemporary and historical women in theatre
-Development of story plot and characters
-Script formatting for the stage
-The playwright’s role in the collaborative art of theatre.
