To our sponsors and supporters:  Thank you note from our CEO - Mike Thompson

Saturday, November 10, 2018

Thank you!

This morning, my heart is still smiling. Despite the tears I felt come on when honoring our dear friend Dick Haskamp last night, I can't help but feel overwhelmed by the loving embrace of this community. I think I woke up with a glow of gratitude and appreciation for your presence, attention, and generosity.

To be able to, in one night, pay tribute to a pioneer of the gay community in Palm Springs, while celebrating and uplifting the work of the new generation of LGBTQ young pioneers was stirring, and a perfect embodiment of our mission to help LGBTQ people along their way.

Saying thank you is not enough. Your existence, your connection to our community, and your partnership have brought us where we are today. Giving you all our gratitude for being an ambassador to The Center. We can't wait to see what's in store for our community for the months and years to come.

Humbly,
Mike Thompson

RED DRESS DRESS RED 2019

The Hottest Dance Party in Town!

Ctr RDDR20 STD 448 0319 a

RED DRESS DRESS RED

Wow! On Saturday, March 9, 2019 we had another Red Dress Dress Red for the books!
The idea behind Red Dress is a simple one --- let’s create a night to experience the full expression of ourselves as dynamic human beings, and have a ridiculously fun time while we do it! None of that would be possible without the company and energy of our guests and supporters. We have some much gratitude, wonder, and appreciation for everyone involved in the event, and all those who attended.
We dream of a world where that special experience is created more often than not; thanks for being part of making that happen. Sending our community all the red-hot thanks in the world.
PS: mark it BRIGHT RED – next year’s party will be on Saturday, March 21, 2020

Drawing Boot Camp II

This class consists of exercises and activities that build on the skills learned in Drawing Boot Camp: Basic Training.

We explore new materials and techniques to expand the drawing repertoire. There is an introduction to color and the different ways it can be used to further round out drawings. Investigations of abstraction will bring new dimensions and variety to the work. We move beyond the purely visual to make drawings that express concepts and ideas.

Completion of the first Drawing Boot Camp class is not required, but a working knowledge of basic drawing skills will make Special Ops a more rewarding experience for the student.

Required Materials for Class:

·        Selection of drawing pencils, including B, 2B, H, 2H

·        2 charcoal pencils

·        black, white, medium grey conte’ sticks (Prismacolor Nupastel may be substituted)

·        pencil sharpener

·        kneaded eraser

·        standard eraser

·        blending stump

·        vine charcoal

·        sketch book, minimum 11”x14”

·        newsprint, minimum 11”x 14”

Suggested but not required items include larger sketchbook, drawing board, graphite sticks, soft pastels.  Some materials may be added as class progresses if students express an interest in exploring other drawing media.
