Dr. Gover is a clinical psychologist, specializing in addiction and co-dependency, anxiety and depression, behavioral health, stress management, aging, and LGBTQ issues. She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology at the Center for Psychological Studies in Berkeley and obtained her B.A. in Psychology and Masters in Counseling at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, CA. For 15 years she was the Coordinator of Student Assistance Programs for the Vallejo Unified School District, responsible for developing a large internship program and bringing mental health services into the schools. For 13 years, she was the Director of Mental Health Services for a rural FQHC community health center in northern California, responsible for integrating behavioral health into a primary care setting. In 2010 she relocated to Palm Springs and accepted a position of clinical psychologist at College of the Desert Student Health Center. She joined the staff at The Center in 2011, where she established a clinical internship program for mental health professionals and expanded low cost counseling services to the community. In addition, as part of a collaborative project with the PSUSD, she developed an Anti-bullying and Suicide Prevention lesson that her staff delivered to every 9th grader in the district. Dr. Gover is responsible for all counseling services at The Center, and oversees several mental health programs for youth, seniors, and the general LGBTQ community.
Dr. Gover has published articles and developed psycho-educational curriculum on peer counseling, anger management, LGBTQ youth suicide prevention, children of alcoholics, chronic pain management, and healthy aging. She is a well-respected presenter on various issues related to mental health, and has delivered numerous workshops and trainings throughout California.
