Alzheimer Caregiver Support Group:
Additional Session starting next Wednesday
 
Starting next Wednesday, this group will meet twice a month on the first and third Wednesday on the same time slot from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
 
This support group offers a safe environment where LGBT caregivers/care partners, who are caring for an LGBT person with dementia, can receive support from others going through similar experiences
 
When: 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month - 1:00 to 3:00 pm

Supporting LGBTQ+ people seeking asylum
Thanks to the individuals across our region and organizations across the country for doing this important work to support LGBTQ+ people seeking asylum in the United States. Are you interested in helping with these efforts? A trip is being organized from the Coachella Valley to ICE's Imperial Regional Detention Center in Calexico. Volunteers will meet one on one with asylum seekers to learn their needs and find ways to support these members of our community. A foreign language is not required. A new, re-imagined revival of the 1978 Broadway musical BALLROOM will debut at CVRep. This moving story is about aging widow Bea Asher who, having lost her beloved Morrie, begins life anew at the Stardust Ballroom, an old school Brooklyn dance palace.

First Camp Widow event for the LGBTQ+ widowed community
Soaring Spirits is proud to offer the first ever Camp Widow event designed to serve the LGBTQ+ widowed community.
 
Held in Los Angeles in partnership with the Los Angeles LGBT Center, the one-day event will feature workshops, discussions, and resources addressing the unique needs of LGBTQ+ people who have experienced the death of a spouse or partner.
 
Sponsored in part by the David Bohnett Foundation and featuring designer, author and advocate Nate Berkus as keynote speaker, registration will be open only to members of the LGBTQ+ widowed community

Your membership fees make a wonderful difference for many women's lives in our LGBT community. Your contributions allow us to distribute groceries to over 250 households each week through our Community Food Bank @ The Center. Membership assists in providing no cost/low cost counseling services to over 50 LGBT clients each week and keeps our classes like 50+Fit, yoga, drawing, Spanish and others at a low cost. In addition, your fees and donations support our work with East Coachella Valley youth in Coachella, Mecca, and Thermal, and the youth suicide-prevention and anti-bullying program in the Palm Springs Unified School District
