William (Bill) Miller has been working as a volunteer with civic groups, the church, and non profits since the late 1960's. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Ridley Township; he worked with children at Cerebral Palsy of Delaware County, and studied Horticulture in High School and also at Longwood Gardens near Philadelphia. He was involved politically and environmentally. Bill moved to Indiana near Chicago in 1978, where he worked with the Grand Calumet River Task Force, and other environmental organizations, served on several boards including the Task Force, Hammond Sanitary District, the Gary Parks and Building commissions, and ran for state office twice. Bill worked as a Millwright at Inland Steel for some 32 years; Local 1010 USW, was active on the safety and environment committees, and earned two environmental science degrees at Indiana University.
In 2000 he and husband Tom, purchased a house here, and have been permanent residents since 2013.
